Designing and Publishing for the Web
Designing and publishing large amounts of information to the Web -- Internet or intranet -- is a central development problem for many organizations. Macromedia has been working toward evolving a complete and fully integrated set of tools to make the job easier than it has ever been. This track focuses on using Macromedia Studio along with Contribute and ColdFusion to build powerful Web information systems -- from design to templating to deployment to content management.
9.00am - 9.45am Using CSS for Page Layout (Greg Rewis) Browser support for CSS has finally made it possible to build powerful site structures and layouts without using tables at all. Learn how to use CSS positioning and the box model to build flexible, powerful layouts that provide a cleaner code structure—and more design freedom and power than is possible with tables. This hands-on workshop will walk you through the creation of an attractive real-world design using completely non-table layout methods.
9.45am -10.30am Building Dynamic Applications with Dreamweaver

In this session we’ll be using some of the new features of Dreamweaver MX 2004 to design and build a web site. We'll talk on how to use some of the features of Dreamweaver to help design and code the web application .
10.30am - 11.15am Using Templates with Dreamweaver and Contribute (Greg Rewis) Dreamweaver templates contain a powerful set of features that allow webmasters to set up site structures for end users to edit. In this hands-on session, you'll learn how to use Dreamweaver templates to create an overall site structure that allows you to maintain control of your design, while allowing easy updates of site content using either Dreamweaver or Contribute.

11.45am - 12.30pm Deploying Contribute 3 and Web Publishing System

The Macromedia Web Publishing System is a complete, scalable solution that empowers businesses to build, manage, and publish to enterprise websites within a centrally controlled, standards-based environment. This solution includes Contribute 3, Flashpaper 2, Studio MX 2004 and Contribute Publishing Services. This session will cover best practices for ensuring a successful deployment of the system including customer examples. Deployment and configuration of the client and server components of the system will be discussed.

See the new features of Macromedia ColdFusion MX 7. Macromedia ColdFusion MX 7 is the most significant release of ColdFusion since its inception ten years ago. Still the fastest, easiest way to build and deploy powerful Internet applications, ColdFusion MX 7 introduces powerful, new services for rich Flash and XForms generation, integrated business reports, dynamic generation of printable documents, and application access through Instant Messaging and SMS text messaging on mobile devices. This release will lower development costs and provide highly visible value to end users. Used alone or in conjunction with J2EE or .NET solutions, ColdFusion MX 7 solves new classes of problems while reducing development time and costs.

The power and use of mobile devices has increased dramatically over the past few years and will continue to do so, creating what is expected to be the largest and fastest growing arena for application development over the next decade. These sessions show you the tools Macromedia has developed from the Flash technology to help you create the next generation of rich applications and interfaces for the mobile world.
2.15pm - 3.00pm Macromedia Mobile Solutions (Daniel Brongiel) This past year has seen incredibly exciting progress and growth in Macromedia’s mobile & devices strategy. This session will recap the latest announcements, deployments and developments from Macromedia’s Mobile team.
3.00pm - 3.30pm Mobile Developer Program (Daniel Brongiel) In this session, our speaker will take you through the developers program for Flash users who are interested in developing Flash content on mobile phones and devices.
3.30pm - 4.15pm Creating Dynamic Applications with Macromedia Flash Lite 1.1 (Chak Ming Fai) Flash Lite 1.1 added the ability to build connected applications using LoadMovie and LoadVariable. While these features are a standard part of rich Internet applications found on the web, they present some interesting challenges in devices. This session discusses the ins and outs of using these new features to build dynamic and engaging applications for mobile phones.

4.45pm - 5.30pm Flash Opportunities in the Asian mobile market (Derek Chim)  This session takes you through the various opportunities for Flash in the Asian mobile market from an industry value-chain perspective. Macromedia’s major porting partner and distributor of Flash Lite in Taiwan will be speaking on the successes of driving Flash on mobile phones with actual case studies illustrating the implementation of Flash Lite together with IAS.
