What is the Macromedia Academic Transactional License Option (ATLO)?

The Macromedia Academic Transactional License Option (ATLO) is a program of discounts for volume purchasing of Macromedia software, upgrades, subscriptions, technical support, and training sold to K12 schools, colleges, and universities in the United States and Canada. Each Macromedia product is given a point value. The discount you receive is determined by the total number of points of each individual order, or transaction: the greater the size of the order, the greater the discount level. The ATLO is one of three volume-license offerings available to education customers as part of the Macromedia Volume License Program.

Ive purchased through the ATLO before. Have any features and benefits been added recently?

Yes. Recent changes in the ATLO include the following:

· An additional discount level is now available: Level E, for customers who purchase Macromedia products totaling 1,000+ points
· Additional discounts are available on server software products
· Macromedia online courses accumulate points along with your order for software, upgrades, subscriptions, and technical support

Are other license options available from Macromedia?

In addition to ATLO, a variety of other license options are available to education customers as part of the Macromedia Volume License Program. Higher-volume purchasers will want the additional discounts and program features included in the Premier Education Program (PEP) (currently available in the U.S. only). K-12 customers seeking school-wide use of Macromedia software will find that the K-6 Site License and Studio, meet the needs of both elementary and secondary schools.

What are the major features of the ATLO?

The Academic Transactional License Option offers significant discounts over boxed-product prices. The level of discount is determined by the size of the individual order, and no contract is required. Customers can mix and match Macromedia software, upgrades, subscriptions, technical support, and training.

What is the minimum purchase requirement through the ATLO?

Education customers can purchase through the ATLO with orders as low as 10 points. This translates to from two to five software licenses, based on their individual point values.

Are both Apple Macintosh and Microsoft Windows applications included through the ATLO?

Customers may mix and match any Macromedia product platform, as well as upgrades, Subscriptions, technical support, and training.

What will I receive with my ATLO order?

Youll receive the following with your ATLO order:

· Right-to-copy licenses in accordance with the license purchase
· One multi-user serial number per product family, per platform The Macromedia End User License Agreement (as applicable) for both software and technical support purchases
· One CD which ships per product, per platform with each order

Is the ATLO similar to licensing programs offered by other companies?

The ATLO program is similar to components of other licensing programs that are considered industry-standard. Our program increases efficiency by allowing end users to get Macromedia licenses using their usual purchase method.

Can I mix and match Macromedia products to reach program levels?

You can mix and match Macromedia products and platforms through the ATLO to reach various discount levels.

Can the licenses I purchase be allocated to a different platform?

No. If you need more licenses for a particular platform, you need to purchase licenses specifically for that platform.

Do customers use the same part numbers for products purchased through the ATLO as for regularly purchased products?

No. Unique SKUs (part numbers) exist for each product at each ATLO program discount level. Each order receives a new serial number. Subscriptions associated with a given order expire two years from the date of that order.

Do all products available through the ATLO have point values?

The vast majority of offerings available through the ATLOincluding full licenses, subscriptions, and most technical supporthave points assigned. However, product CDs and documentation, as well as some support offerings, do not.

Does Macromedia offer cross-platform upgrades?

No. Upgrades must be purchased for the same platform as currently owned licenses.

What products and services are available for purchase through the ATLO?

Through the ATLO, customers can purchase Macromedia software products, upgrades, Subscriptions, technical support, and training, as well as additional CDs and documentation sets that are needed beyond those included with each order (one CD ships per product, per platform with each order).

Which Macromedia products are offered through the ATLO?

All Macromedia products are available for sale through the ATLO. The product list and the point assignments for each product are subject to change. Is technical support discounted?

Technical support offerings are not discounted, but they are assigned points to help customers achieve a higher program leveland therefore a higher discount on their software purchases.

Are Macromedia Software Subscriptions offered through the ATLO?

Macromedia Software Subscriptions are available as part of the ATLO program.

What is a Macromedia Software Subscription?

Macromedia Software Subscription coverage provides the assurance that a school always has the latest version of the Macromedia software. Updates are automatically sent upon release, ensuring that youre using the latest and greatest technology from Macromedia. Additionally, Software Subscriptions enable schools to more easily budget and avoid costly individual software upgrade purchases. This extremely beneficial program provides a two-year Subscription period for education customers.

· The two-year Subscription coverage period begins with the initial product-purchase date, and expires on the last day of the month after the two-year anniversary of that date.
· The purchase of a Subscription is optional.
· If a Subscription is purchased, it must be purchased with the software license.
· Renewal Subscriptions can be purchased up to three months prior to the Subscription expiration date.
· When renewing any Subscription, customers should renew all licenses covered under the Subscription at the same time.

If I have a Macromedia Software Subscription and a new version of a product is released, how do I receive my new software?

Once a new version has been released, we’ll ship the appropriate software directly to the original “Ship To” contact person on the purchase order (unless the customer has notified Macromedia that the contact person has changed). You may then install the current release up to the number of licenses with active coverage. Subscription customers receive a Macromedia Volume License Program Certificate that includes:

· Right-to-copy licenses in accordance with the license purchase
· One new multi-user serial number per product family
· The Macromedia End User License Agreement (as applicable) for both software and technical support purchases
·

One CD at no charge The upgrade is issued on a license-exchange basis. This means that your upgrade license is in exchange for use of the previous version. Using two versions of the software on a given computer requires two licenses. The ATLO does not offer coterminous Subscriptions or Subscription pro-rating. If you prefer to have all your Subscriptions on the same renew schedule, you should consider the Premier Education Program (PEP), which is designed for more global license management.

What are the limitations on the use of the Macromedia software products in my school?

Macromedia software sold to education customers is for use in qualifying K12 educational and higher education institutions. Education Editions of Macromedia products may be used for instructional purposes by students, teachers, and faculty, but may not be used for any commercial or revenue-generating activities. Software may be installed only on school-owned computers.

May we load the software on mobile computers that students use at home?

Yes, as long as the computers are owned by the school. We also offer aggressive education pricing on Macromedia products for purchase by both students and faculty for use on their personally owned computers. To purchase or receive additional information, contact your Authorized Education Reseller.

May I purchase training through ATLO?

Yes. Online courses are available for purchase from the Macromedia eLearning Center and Macromedia University.

Are curriculum materials available from Macromedia?

Macromedia as a wide variety of curriculum materials available for both K-12 and Higher Education. All of these materials may be purchased in North America in the Macromedia Education Online Store. Many of these materials are also available through Macromedia Authorized Academic Resellers or through our curriculum publishing partner, Course Technology, by calling (800) 648-7450 or by ordering online.

How many discount levels are available for ATLO?

The ATLO has five point-based discount levels. A point break is the number of points you need to purchase your individual order at a specific discount level. The following point breaks have been established for each discount level:

A 10 to 99 points
B 100 to 199 points
C 200 to 499 points
D 500 to 999 points
E 1,000+ points


Education customers wishing to order software and subscriptions with a total point value of 3,000 or more should check the additional discounts and features available through the Premier Education Program (PEP).

Does a specific products point value increase at the higher program levels?

The point value of each product remains the same at any level.

How does a customer purchase products through the ATLO?

Customers may purchase through Authorized Education Resellers or directly through Macromedia Sales by calling 888-939-2545 and selecting option 2.

Does Macromedia charge for CDs and documentation?

We don’t charge for the initial CD which ships per product, per platform with each order. However, if you order additional CDs and documentation, you’ll be charged a nominal fee.

What if I want additional CDs and documentation? Can I order them?

You can order additional CDs and documentation kits as separate items for a nominal fee.

Can I purchase more CDs and documentation kits than licenses for any given product?

You may purchase only as many CDs and documentation kits as the number of licenses you have purchased per product.

How does Macromedia ensure that educational institutions use only the number of software products that they have been licensed to use?

We may audit you and your records relating to your copying and use of the licensed software—no more than once yearly and during ordinary business hours, after giving reasonable advance notice—for the purpose of confirming your compliance with your certificate. Should we choose to conduct an audit, either party may elect that this audit be performed—on the behalf of Macromedia—by an independent party reasonably acceptable to both parties. You will allow auditors onsite within a reasonable period of time, not to exceed 20 calendar days from the date of the audit notification. If this audit reveals a shortfall in payment, you agree to immediately pay Macromedia the then-current suggested retail price for each copy or installation beyond the number of licenses purchased by you. If this audit reveals a shortfall in payment of more than 5%, you will (in addition to paying Macromedia the past-due amounts set forth above) reimburse Macromedia for the direct out-of-pocket expenses incurred in conducting this audit.

What is the Macromedia Volume License Program (MVLP) freight policy?

All MVLPorders are shipped from our warehouses using a two-day service (such as Federal Express second-day service) or an international equivalent. Resellers are responsible for adding freight charges to their purchase orders.

What is the return policy?

For the purposes of the MVLP, Macromedia will honor the warranty of the End-User License Agreement. Otherwise, Macromedia will not accept returns for MVLP orders. The only exception to this no-return policy will be for product exchanges on order entry errors corrected within 30 days of receipt of incorrect product.
