Connecting people with Macromedia Flash on the Pocket PC

This is an exciting era in computing. Consider the Microsoft Smartphone, Audiovox Thera, Kyocera QCP Series smartphone, Samsung SPH-1300, Handspring Treo, and Nokia 9290 Series Communicator—not to mention the upcoming Danger Hiptop. The convergence of PDAs and cell phones will only accelerate in the next few years, and Macromedia Flash is destined to play a major role in that development.

Wireless Flash-capable devices are now a reality, and you can create wireless applications that use Macromedia Flash to connect users to data services and even with other people.

This tutorial demonstrates how to create an interactive chat room using Macromedia Flash on Pocket PC devices. The application makes use of XadrA's Fortress Interactive Entertainment Platform. Fortress is an XMLSocket server on steroids. It can be used to create a wide variety of interactive applications including multiplayer games, instant messengers, collaborative business applications, e-learning systems, and any application where users connect with one another.
