Developing and Adapting Flash Games for Flash Lite 1.1

We all know how cool Flash games can be. Easy to develop and addictive to play, they've been a mainstay of web entertainment for years. Now, following the recent release of Macromedia Flash Lite 1.1, it's possible to look at developing and adapting Flash games for the rapidly expanding mobile phone market.

In this article I show you how to make a web-developed game compatible with Flash Lite 1.1 (see Figure 1). I also share with you some considerations to bear in mind when developing for this new medium.

Requirements

To complete this tutorial you will need to install the following software and files:

Flash MX Professional 2004

Macromedia Flash Lite 1.1 CDK

This article is aimed at users with intermediate to advanced knowledge of Flash and experience creating games in Flash.

Note: Before you continue with this article, be sure to read the Flash Lite 1.1 Authoring Guidelines PDF file and install the necessary files from the Flash_Lite_authoring_updater folder. The guidelines and files are part of the Flash Lite 1.1 CDK.
