HTML limits what you can do with font styling on the web. Pick a stylin' font that's only on your system, and your visitors get a fall back font; that's the way it works, or rather used to work...This presentation will introduce you to a technique, called Scalable Inman Flash Replacement (sIFR), which will allow you to use that hot new font on the pages you create, without being forced to use images, all in a easy to use, unobtrusive, backwards compatible, search-engine friendly manner by using a nifty combination of Flash and JavaScript.

You can download the sIFR package from Mike Davidson’s site, www.mikeindustries.com/blog/. You may need to search for sIFR to find it.

About the author

A free copy of Dreamweaver 1.2 on a cover CD of an imported computer magazine turned Danilo away from the hand code only styling of the fabled Notepad development system. Using every version of Dreamweaver since then, has lead him to becoming a partner at CommunityMX.com writing articles and tutorials on Macromedia Studio MX products, building Dreamweaver extensions, and contributing in the Macromedia forums aiding budding extension developers. And along the way, Danilo got to do a few Macromedia User Group presentations, technical edited a number of Dreamweaver and Studio MX books, and was a contributing author for Dreamweaver MX 2004 Magic.
