Macromedia Flex presents developers with a rich application component framework and runtime data services for building sophisticated applications that render in the Flash runtime. With Flex developers can create feature-rich, data-intensive applications that leverage the proven benefits of the Rich Internet Application experience on the client.
The Macromedia Central desktop client is an environment for distributing and maintaining applications over the web whose user experience and functionality approach that of traditional desktop applications, such as those authored in Microsoft Visual Basic, Java, or the C family of languages.
With Central 1.5 and Flex 1.5, Flex developers can target their applications to render either in the Central runtime or the Flash runtime without requiring significant code changes.

This is the free runtime environment that executes your application and is available for download.
Central 1.5 SDK
The developer's companion including the API reference and documentation, sample applications and installation badges (used to install your application from any website), a debug version of the Central 1.5 desktop client, and more tools for developer productivity. The SDK is available for free by registering for a license.
Flex SDK for Central 1.5
Created specifically for Flex developers, this SDK contains samples and documentation about creating new applications or moving existing web applications to the desktop. This SDK is available for free by registering for a license.
Flex 1.5
This version of Flex includes updates to the compiler and application framework to ensure compatibility between Flex applications and the Central client. Download the trial.
