In my Introduction to Styles article, you learned how to apply styles to objects in Macromedia Fireworks. Now, you're going to move onto the next level: creating your own styles. First, you'll look at the theory. Then, I will give you insight into the more creative art of putting together a unique set of stroke, fill, effect, and text parameters that together create something special. If you're not familiar with styles in Fireworks, I suggest you start with my Introduction to Styles article.

Richard Blenkinsopp has been a Fireworks enthusiast since 1998 when version 2 was released. He works at the Memorial University of Newfoundland where his job includes designing and maintaining the School of Music website. Artistically challenged as a child, Richard has found Fireworks to be the perfect solution for creating complex graphics and concepts without the need to be able to draw.

Richard lives in Newfoundland, Canada with his wife Kelly. He enjoys taking scenic photographs and playing the trumpet in local funk and jazz groups.
