Macromedia Flash Remoting MX Components

Developing Rich Internet Applications using Macromedia Flash and Macromedia Flash Remoting MX requires the addition of the Flash Remoting Components. The Flash Remoting Components extend the Macromedia Flash authoring environment, adding the ActionScript APIs needed to invoke remote services using Flash Remoting MX. Authoring tool extensions—such as the NetConnection Debugger, which enables developers to watch and trace events across both the client and server—are also included in the Flash Remoting Components, in addition to powerful recordset handling and databinding capabilities for handling dynamic data from relational databases. Flash Remoting Components are available for Flash Professional 8, Flash Basic 8 and prior Flash versions.

Note: Make sure that Macromedia Flash is installed first before installing the Flash Remoting Components. Please refer to the Flash Remoting System Requirements page or Support Center for more information.

Macromedia Flash Remoting Components for Flash 8 ActionScript 2.0

This version of the Flash Remoting components supports Flash Professional 8 and Flash Basic 8, and is available in English, French, and German languages. A Japanese language version will be available soon. The English version can also be installed with other language versions of Flash.

Flash Remoting Component
Support files for Flash 8
NetConnection Debugger
HTML content that can be viewed within the Help panel in Flash
ActionScript 2.0 API class source code

Note: The component, support files and help content will be the same that was shipped in a previous updater.

Macromedia Flash Remoting Components for Flash MX 2004 ActionScript 2.0

Updates to the Flash Remoting Components include:

The Flash Remoting ActionScript API has been updated to comply with ActionScript 2.0.
The new RemotingConnector component allows you to work directly with the new data binding features in Flash MX 2004 Professional
Significant improvements to the Documentation, including a new format and sample applications.

These ActionScript 2.0 components should be used for all Flash MX 2004 and Macromedia Flash MX Professional 2004 projects, especially if you are working with ActionScript 2.0 in your Flash project. You can still use the ActionScript 1.0 components below, if you like, but the ActionScript 2.0 components represent the best integration with Flash, Remoting, and ActionScript.
