- Why did Macromedia decide to stop enhancing Sitespring?
Economic and technology shifts have changed the management of web production processes since we first developed Macromedia Sitespring. While some web development professionals have adopted Sitespring to more successfully manage website production, many web teams have found their needs to be more diverse than the features provided by the existing product.
We listen closely to our customers and take pride in creating market-leading products and solutions that address strong customer needs. We've decided to stop enhancing Sitespring in order to focus on the Macromedia MX vision of an integrated family of client, tool, and server technologies for building Rich Internet Applications.
- Will Macromedia continue to maintain Sitespring?
We're not planning any additional releases of Sitespring, and we're not aware of any issues that would require a maintenance release. Should issues arise in the future, they will be evaluated at that time for an appropriate resolution.
Sitespring 1.2, released in February 2002, is the most recent version of the product, and it's a free upgrade for all Sitespring customers. Read more about the bug fixes and enhancements in Sitespring 1.2 as well as how to download the Sitespring 1.2 updater.
- Will Macromedia continue to support Sitespring?
We will continue to provide technical support for Sitespring through May 2004. Please continue to visit the Sitespring support center for TechNotes, white papers, and other product information. If you've purchased a technical support plan for Sitespring, we will continue to provide support pursuant to the terms of your support agreement. Even though we will not be selling annual Sitespring support packages, you can purchase incident-based support from a technical support engineer.
If your company is satisfied with Sitespring, you can continue to use it for as long as it serves your needs. Macromedia will support Sitespring through May 2004, or through the term of your existing support contract.
- Our company wants to migrate away from Sitespring. What can we do?
Sitespring has an Export feature for project and task data that will allow you to export data in a common format. Please refer to the product documentation within the product to learn more about the Export feature.
If you have a more involved migration question, please go to the Sitespring Support Center.
- If I still have questions about my recent Sitespring purchase, who should I contact?
If you have specific questions about your Sitespring purchase, please contact Macromedia Customer Service.
