ColdFusion MX 7 Extensions for Dreamweaver

Dreamweaver's extensibility helps make it a powerful development environment. Several extensions are now available that deliver new functionality to make Dreamweaver the most productive way to build ColdFusion applications.

Updated Language Support

ColdFusion MX 7 includes many new tags and functions to CFML. The extensions update Dreamweaver's tag editors and inspectors to support the new tags and attributes.

ColdFusion Administrative Features

Before ColdFusion MX 7, data source administration tasks could only be performed from the web-based ColdFusion Administrator. The new ColdFusion MX 7 Extensions for Dreamweaver give developers the ability to create and edit data sources directly from within Dreamweaver MX 2004. ColdFusion debugging information can also be viewed without leaving Dreamweaver.

ColdFusion Component Filtering

When developing on a server with multiple sites, the Dreamweaver Component panel presents a long list of all available ColdFusion components (CFCs) on the entire server. Developers can now filter the list to display only those components in the current Dreamweaver site.

ColdFusion Component Recordsets

When using a database as a content source for a dynamic web page, you must first create a recordset in which to store the retrieved data. While Dreamweaver has long supported ColdFusion recordsets, the data access logic was stored locally in the ColdFusion template. This technique is not optimal for code reuse or maintainability.

With the new ColdFusion MX 7 Extensions for Dreamweaver, developers can now use the familiar Dreamweaver recordset builder to create ColdFusion components to process database access logic. CFC recordsets can then be used just like traditional Dreamweaver recordsets for server behaviors like dynamic tables, dynamic select lists, and more.

Login Wizard

ColdFusion MX 7 Extensions for Dreamweaver include a complete login wizard that allows developers to secure websites with simple password protection or NT domain or LDAP authentication. The generated login code includes login forms and well-structured ColdFusion component-based authentication.
