With the creation of SBC Yahoo! DSL, a broadband service developed through an alliance between Yahoo! and SBC Communications, Inc., Yahoo! was looking to break the mold in how they delivered news and information to their customers. Bold plans called for a break from the past of delivering primarily text-based information and the placement of a new video on demand application directly into the SBC Yahoo! DSL home page - front and center. In order to pull this off, they needed a streaming media platform that delivered video instantaneously, could be scaled to handle heavy traffic, enabled easy programmable control of the video streams, and allowed them integrate video directly into their web page with the best user experience. They chose Macromedia Flash MX and Macromedia Flash Communication Server MX for their video on demand application. Watch the case study below to see why.
