Using Macromedia Contribute with websites
Before you can successfully create a connection to a website using Macromedia Contribute, both the operating system of the server hosting the website and web server software need to be configured such that you have proper file and folder access. Without proper access, you will be unable to connect to the website to edit its web pages and publish any changes you make.
This article describes the steps you should take prior to creating a connection to your website with Contribute. The tasks described here apply to all server operating systems and web servers. In a few instances, specific instructions are provided for the more popular web server software distributions available.
Note: You should always refer to the documentation supplied with your server's operating system and web server to learn the best practices in creating a secure server environment.
