Extending the Macromedia Contribute Installer

Overview

One of the biggest requests for previous versions of Contribute is an easy way to distribute custom commands, behaviors, and templates to other Contribute users. For example, if your company has custom templates, you might want to distribute them along with the product.

This article describes how to add additional items to the installer.

Windows

  1. Copy Contribute.msi to your staging location.
  2. Create a Configuration folder next to it.
  3. Copy any templates, commands, and behaviors to the Configuration directory in exactly the structure required in the Contribute Configuration folder.
  4. Run the installer.

Everything in the Configuration folder is copied to the corresponding installer as part of the installation process.

Macintosh

  1. Open the Installer Bundle by right clicking the Contribute Installer, and then selecting Show Package Contents.
  2. Create a Configuration folder next to the Contents folder.
  3. Copy any files you want installed in the corresponding subfolder.
  4. Run the installer.

Everything in the Configuration folder is copied to the corresponding installer as part of the installation process.
