Creating the layout

Choose View > Table View> Layout View or click the Layout View button in the Objects panel to switch into Layout view.

Start out be creating the layout structure first, then set the width to be autostretch or fixed width. Last, add the content.

To draw out the title/logo area:

1 Click the Draw Layout Cell button in the Layout category of the Objects panel. The mouse pointer will change to a plus sign (+).
2 Position the mouse pointer in the top left corner of the page and drag to draw out the area. Make it a long rectangle along the top.

To draw out the menu area:

1 Click the Draw Layout Cell button in the Layout category of the Objects panel. The mouse pointer will change to a plus sign (+).
2 Position the mouse pointer under the title/logo box at the left corner and drag down and right for the menu box.

The content area is a little different. you can either use a layout cell, or you can use a nested layout table. Using the nested table here allows you to have more control over the content area. For example, you may want the content to have space around it so it doesn't run up against the menu. To accomplish this, you need to make it a layout table.

To draw out the content area:

1 Click the Draw Layout Table button in the Layout category of the Objects panel. The mouse pointer will change to a plus sign (+).
2 Position the mouse pointer right under the intersection of the menu box and the title/logo box. Drag down and right all the way to the edge of the box. You will see a Layout Table tab appear.

3 Click the Draw Layout Cell box in the Layout category of the Objects panel. the mouse pointer will change to a plus sign. Draw the layout cell in the layout table you just created.

Your layout is now created. All you have to do is set formatting for the layout cells and/or tables using the Property inspector.

To set formatting:

1 Select the layout cell or table you want to format. Move the mouse pointer over the edge of the box, it will highlight red. When it highlights, click on the edge of the box (or hold down Control (Windows) or Command (Mac) and click anywhere in the cell or table to select it).
2 Choose Window > Properties to open the Property inspector.
3 Select the options you want.
Some of the items you can format include background color, horizontal and vertical alignment (for content in that table or cell), and more.
