Choosing your Timeline settings

The new Flash 5 Timeline style is the default setting. You can set the Timeline to Flash 4 style by editing the Timeline preferences.

To set the Flash 5 Timeline to Flash 4 style:

1 Launch Flash 5.
2 Choose Edit > Preferences.
3 On the General tab, select the Flash 4 Selection Style and Flash 4 Frame Drawing options.

4 Click OK.
Changes made to the Timeline preferences take effect immediately.

To return the Timeline settings to the Flash 5 default style, deselect the Flash 4 Selection Style and Flash 4 Frame Drawing options.

The differences between the Flash 5 default and Flash 4 Timeline styles are discussed in detail in the following sections.

Note: It's possible to combine the Flash 5 default and Flash 4 Timeline styles by selecting only one of the Flash 4 Timeline options. When a Flash 4 Timeline option is not selected, the Flash 5 default style takes effect for that option. For example, if you select only the Flash 4 Frame Drawing option, the frames of your Timeline will be drawn in the Flash 4 frame-drawing style, but your frame selections will be in the Flash 5 selection style.
